The future is here now. Your television set is not just a device now, but it is another world. It all started with that fat, box-looking TV set. Then, the thickness of these started decreasing time-by-time. Now, we are all used to that flat TV screen which looks like the big version of your smartphone with a stand below. But technology does not end here. Technology is a vast jungle through which the human race is not even halfway through. Now, Xiaomi is going further in the technology of TVs and it has launched its Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition.
You would not believe it but this television set is just a glass pane! Yes! A simple glass pane through which you can look through. But if you turn on the TV, it would turn into a proper Television set! As amazing as it sounds, its features are this amazing too.
Xiaomi has produced a device to celebrate its 10 years anniversary. The Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition would be a part of this celebration. This Television set is just 5.7mm thick!
Where is the hardware stored?
The first question that arises in one’s mind seeing this is, “Where is the hardware stored if it Is just a glass pane?” The answer lies on the stand this glass/screen is mounted on. This stand is not just the normal Television stands to keep the TV up straight. This stand has all the hardware, the light emitting system, audio system, and all the other hardware in that little cylinder below. This is the reason the stand of the device is also quite large.
Price
This device for now would be launched only in China as there is no information about the international sales. Although, the company did mention that this would be the first television to enter the global market with a TOLED (Transparent OLED).
The price of the TV when converted to Indian currency is at a high 5 lakhs to 6 lakhs rupees. Seeing the technology used in this device, it is quite worth it. But people who are into fancy devices would only buy it. It is quite unlikely that a middle-class person would want to buy a Television at the price of a good car.
Display

The Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition features a large 55-inch full-HD Transparent OLED display. It will have a fast refresh rate of 120Hz which would provide a smooth transition to the pictures on the TV. The company has also included a MEMC motion compensation technology.
Processor
The TV is powered by a custom made MediaTek 9650 processor and AI Master Smart Engine with over 20 optimization algorithms. The Smart Television would have a 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.
Audio
Coming to the audio, the TV set consists of two 8W speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
Ports and Connectivity
The ports on this TV include the usual 3 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, an AV port, and an Ethernet port. The Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition will obviously have a Wi-Fi connectivity option as well has Bluetooth connectivity.
Software
Talking about the software that it would be running on; the Mi TV would run on the company’s MIUI designed for TVs. It would also have a built–in app store.
The Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition features a technology that is rare and something very new. This technology is being experimented by many other companies in the market. But Xiaomi is ready to launch it on the 16th of August. It is still unclear when the TV would be launched in other parts of the world but this TV is much-awaited now. Xiaomi has always tried something new again.
