Carl Pei, the ex co-founder of OnePlus, has announced that his new company, Nothing, will be launching their first device, the Nothing Ear 1, worldwide on July 27. The company has struck a partnership with Flipkart in the Indian market and will be available through the e-commerce platform immediately on the day of the release. The earbuds were supposed to come out in June 2021 but due to some technical issues, the launch was delayed.
“Design is top-secret but what I can tell you is the earbuds combine transparency, iconic form, refined functionality, Artistry, craftsmanship and confidence.”, said Carl Pei, CEO, Nothing. The product will feature a unique design compared to the normal ones and will deliver high-quality performance to consumers. The company teamed up with Swedish Audio House, Teenage Engineering, for the design of the product.
The CEO has also said that the company’s focus on audio devices will plan to create an eco-system of inter-connected devices in the near future. Carl Pei, the CEO, was also one of the co-founders of OnePlus and left the company in October 2020 to create and focus on his new venture and company, Nothing.
The company has confirmed that the Nothing Ear 1 will be launching on July 27, 6:30 pm IST. Initially in India, the earbuds will only be available through Walmart owned companies and it is expected to go live on Flipkart first. It is expected to be priced significantly lower than its competitors earbuds. The delay in the launch didn’t come as a surprise as there is a semiconductor shortage that has resulted in secondary peripherals going out of stock. Luckily, this gave the company more time to prepare for their first ever device launch in the global markets.
Nothing India’s vice president Manu Sharma says people should not be bored by new technology, and the new earbuds they are launching will allow people to feel excited again. Aside from Qualcomm’s aptX codec support, gamers can expect a low-latency mode, ENC, and ANC.
