OnePlus launched three new devices recently at a launch event along with new wearables. OnePlus 9 Series has three models; affordable OnePlus9R, balanced OnePlus 9 and high-end OnePlus 9 Pro. The overall cost of OnePlus devices is increasing as time passes. It is not only one company that increases smartphone prices but companies like Apple and Samsung also doing the same thing. The reason is, smartphone components are becoming too advanced and costly. It is considerable because new technology always costs more than traditional technology. Users always expect something new from smartphone manufacturers.

In the race of technology, companies improvise technology that used in smartphones, for example, nowadays, most of the premium smartphones come with a 120Hz or 144Hz display refresh rate. The technology used in developing displays is changing, and companies like Samsung and Huawei are working on foldable displays.

Display

The OnePlus 9 Pro comes with a Fluid AMOLED 2.0 display which has 120Hz display refresh rate. It can be changed according to requirements from 1Hz to 120Hz to save the battery. The display of the OnePlus 9 Pro is 6.7 inches bigger and it is a 2K display which is HDR 10+ capable and produces 1B colors. It comes with a 10 bit color depth support and Corning Gorilla glass protection.

Processor

Snapdragon 888 powered OnePlus 9 Pro gives high performance with synchronisation of OxygenOS and Android 11. The Snapdragon 888 is based on 5nm technology which consumes less battery and maximises performance. It has 2.84GHz Octa-Core CPU and Adreno 660 GPU, which provides good multitasking and lag-free gaming experience. The phone is also 5G compatible, which can be used in future in India.

The base variant of OnePlus 9 Pro comes with a 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Camera

One of the main focus of OnePlus this time is on the camera department, because the company had invested money to Hasselblad for improvising image processing. Lot of people are not interested in OnePlus devices because they are not giving satisfying camera results. It is important to get good quality images when people invest money on premium category smartphones. But this time OnePlus tries very well particularly on the Camera module.

OnePlus 9 Pro has quad rear camera setup along with Hasselblad branding. The main rear camera has 48MP, f/1.8, 23mm sensor, another is 50MP Wide-Angle camera which has f/2.2, 14mm sensor. The third camera is 8MP telephoto lens which provides 3.3x optical zoom and forth camera is 2MP depth camera. The Hasselblad powered OnePlus camera is capable of recording 8K videos at 30fps and 4K videos at 30/60/120fps.

The front camera on the OnePlus 9Pro has 16MP, f/2.4 Wide sensor which is capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps. Selfie cameras are not considerable especially in premium segment devices and that is backward of OnePlus. OnePlus just invested their time and money on developing rear cameras only, because the front camera is not capable to record 4K videos.

Battery

The OnePlus 9Pro offers 4500mAh of battery capacity which is the same as OnePlus 9 and OnePlus9R. Actually, OnePlus did smart work on batteries because they divided the battery in two parts for the fast charging. It is capable of charging devices with 65W of fast wired charging which comes in the box as well as 50W of wireless charging which you have to buy separately. The 65W wired charging is capable of charging a device from 0 to 100 within half an hour while a 50W wireless charger can charge the device completely within 45 minutes.

Other

The OnePlus 9Pro is an IP68 certified device which gives protection against water and dust. It has stereo speakers along with Dolby Atmos support, one is front firing and another in bottom firing. The device also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth v5.2, NFC and USB Type-C 3.1. The OnePlus 9 is protected by Gorilla glass on front and back side both and framed by Aluminium body.
